My art is a love letter to the untamed magic of the world (and myself). Influences on my art include Post-Impressionists like Rousseau, Pissarro, and Cézanne, as well as the dreamy Jewish Expressionism of Marc Chagall. I use texture and color to create multilayered worlds upon the page
My art is often openly political, hoping to transform the world through art from our collapsing capitalist hellscape to a more just, interconnected way of living. As a disabled Jewish woman, I hope to reinagine and build a better world for everyone through art.
Before I returned to making art, I was a college professor of political philosophy/law/government (PhD UT Austin, 2012). My love for close readings of texts that matter in the world is woven through my art, from my poetry art collection to my picture books/graphic novels, to my teaching projects. I love exploring the world of words with pictures, and hope to spend more time teaching in the future.
